Carmen Rouggeri, the Greek director who has built children's theater around Greek myth since founding her troupe Rakosyllektes in 1985, walks her young audience from chaos to Olympus. The production traces the shaping of earth and sea, the birth of Zeus, and the arrival of Prometheus, Persephone, Apollo, Hermes, Artemis, Ares and Aphrodite — 105 minutes that cover the material an eight-year-old usually meets as a list of names in a textbook.
Rouggeri has written and directed for the National Theater and the Athens Concert Hall, and her children's stage has spent four decades turning mythology into something kids watch rather than memorize.
If you want a quiet adult afternoon, this is family programming with a young crowd that reacts loudly. But if you have a child who keeps asking where lightning comes from, this answers them in order.
Christmas Theater is at Veikou 139 in Galatsi, reachable by bus from central Athens. Tickets €5–€30 via more.com. A whole pantheon in one afternoon.
