Don Quixote is a children's theater production at Theatro Kappa in Kypseli, Athens, on 3 March 2026. The stage splits between flesh and shadow — live actors share scenes with flat figures behind a lit screen, and the boundary keeps shifting.
Ilias Karellas directs and builds the shadow figures for Mike Kenny's adaptation of Cervantes, now in its second season. Five actors, live score by String Demons, movement by Antigone Gyra. Karellas designed set, lighting, and figures himself. Seventy minutes, ages six and up.
If your children need spectacle, this is quieter — the shadow work asks them to watch closely. If a knight who refuses to see the world as it is holds their focus, Kenny strips Cervantes to bone and Karellas builds the rest from light.
Kypseli 2, near Plateia Viktorias. Victoria metro, ten minutes. Sundays 11:30, through 5 April 2026. Tickets 13 EUR, reduced 10 EUR via ticketservices.gr.
The knight charges windmills. Karellas charges screens — and the shadows charge back.
