Me to Vlemma tis Nelly's is a musical-theatrical performance at Olympia Municipal Music Theater Maria Callas on Akademias 59, near Panepistimio metro. Magda Mavrogianni narrates the life of photographer Nelly's while the Athens Municipal Chorus fills the hall and projected photographs shift between portraits and Parthenon columns. Expect narration, chorus, and piano moving through a century of images.
Born Elli Sougioultzoglou-Seraidari in Smyrna in 1899, Nelly's shocked interwar Athens with nude photographs of dancers on the Parthenon and reshaped Greek visual identity. The score spans Schubert and Chopin through Kalomiris and Theodorakis, with Carolos Zouganellis at piano.
