From Stalingrad to Berlin — 120 Years Since the Birth of Shostakovich is a concert at Parnassos Literary Society in central Athens, on 20 April 2026. The Wind Ensemble Pavlos Karrer — twelve musicians under Christos Kolovos — performs arrangements of symphonic works, marches, and film soundtracks.

Shostakovich was born 25 September 1906. His 120th anniversary has drawn commemorations from the Bolshoi to Carnegie Hall, and this one arrives at a literary society founded in 1865 whose 500-seat hall carries a wind ensemble without amplification. Not an orchestra — twelve players at chamber scale, where you hear each instrument hold its line.
