Barbara Kruger: Untitled (Pride and Contempt)
A 90-meter text mural wraps the façade of the National Library of Greece, flanked by installations running both banks of the SNFCC Canal. Barbara Kruger has translated her vocabulary of power, belief, and public language into Greek for the first time — thirteen site-specific works commissioned by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the cultural center's outdoor spaces. This is Kruger's first solo exhibition in Greece, curated by Katerina Stathopoulou.
Sam Morril live in Athens
Sam Morril makes his Athens debut at Theatro Akropol on 2 September 2026 — a single evening, performed in English. The New York stand-up trades in dry, dark, tightly written one-liners; his 2022 hour Same Time Tomorrow, filmed in Chicago, streams on Netflix. This Akropol show is his first date in Greece. Morril favors engineered jokes over crowd work — short, sharp setups, deadpan delivery, no physical comedy to hide behind.
The Rumjacks
The Rumjacks play Celtic punk the way a pub closes — fast, loud, reluctant to stop. Formed in Sydney in 2008 and now scattered across Belfast, Berlin and Boston, the band pairs bagpipes and Adam Kenny's bouzouki with three chords and a shout, best known for 'An Irish Pub Song.' The Rumjacks arrive on 'Dead Anthems,' their 2025 album and second record with American vocalist Mike Rivkees, who replaced founding singer Frankie McLaughlin in 2020.
La Coka Nostra
Four MCs and a turntable, no melody to hide behind. La Coka Nostra is the American hardcore-rap crew that grew out of the House of Pain camp, and its Athens lineup brings Ill Bill, Slaine and Danny Boy over hard, unhurried beats. La Coka Nostra's catalog runs back to 2009's 'A Brand You Can Trust,' built on New York boom-bap and street reportage rather than radio polish.

Grigoris Samolis opens Technopolis' September concert season — the Cretan lyra player from Aimonas in Rethymno's Mylopotamos, on the former gasworks' open-air stage for the first time, Wednesday 2 September 2026 at 21:00. Samolis has held a lyra since age five, took first prize at the Panhellenic Traditional Music Competition as a schoolboy, and his «Λυράρης» carried Cretan music to millions of YouTube plays; his crowd skews young and comes to dance, not to sit.
Λεωνίδας Μπαλάφας
Twenty years ago Leonidas Balafas started with a guitar his parents gave him; on 3 September 2026 he marks the anniversary at Technopolis, the open-air yard among the old Gazi gasworks chimneys. Balafas writes folk-rock songs carried by an unusual voice, built across two decades of playing streets, clubs and living rooms around Athens. This concert is the milestone itself — a career-spanning night where old friends join him onstage and the set reaches back through all twenty years. Come for a festive gathering, not a greatest-hits recital: songs traded between guests and a full band.
Sensory Friendly προβολή | Park Your Cinema Kids: Στάσου Πλάι Μου (1986)
Forty years after its 1986 release, Rob Reiner's «Στάσου Πλάι Μου» (Stand by Me) gets a Sensory Friendly open-air screening on the SNFCC Xefoto lawn in Kallithea, Athens — Park Your Cinema Kids, Friday 4 September 2026, 20:30, open entry. The screening, presented with TheHappyAct, is adapted for autistic viewers and anyone with sensory processing differences: lower sound intensity in set seating zones, and nobody shushes a child who needs to move. The film is the program's anniversary piece — Stephen King's novella The Body turned into four boys walking the train tracks one late-1950s summer, with a young River Phoenix — and it plays in English with Greek subtitles.
