A blanket lies on the floor. Over the course of the morning it becomes a cloud, then a house, then a doll, and the people deciding what it is are barely old enough to walk. Μεγαλώνω σε μια μέρα (Growing Up in One Day) is a show at Megaron Mousikis (Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών) for children aged one to three and the adults who bring them. It starts at 10:00 on Sunday 22 November 2026.
The piece belongs to Mikra theamata gia ta mikra ("Small shows for the small ones"), the Megaron strand that brings children under three into contact with the performing arts and cinema. Christina Palaiologou wrote the scenario, directs, and narrates. Giorgos Menegakis composed the music, Olga Kapsourou shapes the dance and movement, and Eleni Tsampra made the animation and illustration. That puts four languages in one room: a spoken story, a score, a moving body, and drawings that move.
The audience is parents who plan the whole Sunday around a nap, grandparents who have been handed the morning, and toddlers who treat the space between them and the performer as an invitation. Nobody here expects silence. A child who stands up and wanders toward the narrator is doing exactly what the room was built for.
The setting is the Megaron's Αίθουσα Εκπαιδευτικών, arranged for crawling and roaming rather than rows of seats. The vibe is interactive and led by the children, with music, dance and narration responding to small explorers. The sound is Menegakis's original music woven under Palaiologou's spoken story. At the door, 15 EUR covers one child plus one adult, and each additional child is 5 EUR.
Μεγαλώνω σε μια μέρα moves from the familiar space of a child's bedroom out toward the open horizon of nature. The Megaron's own programme note says that the world around us keeps changing and invites us to change with it. Everyday objects swap roles, and in doing so they show where the edges of the world are and what it looks and sounds like. The children's imagination does the rest. Palaiologou's narration holds the thread while Kapsourou's movement and Tsampra's images turn one object into the next.
Because children move and play freely, the usual rules of a concert-hall morning don't apply. Your one-year-old will not be asked to sit still on your lap.
If you want a performance your toddler watches quietly from a fixed seat, this is built the opposite way. But if you want your child's first theatre to be a place where they are allowed to reach out and touch it, this is that morning.
The Megaron is next to Megaro Mousikis metro station, so it is accessible by metro. Tickets are sold through the Megaron's own box office system. The Megaron opened presales for its 2026-27 educational programmes on 17 September 2026, and this Sunday session was already listed as sold out by 23 September. Check the box office for returns before making the trip.
Palaiologou's Μεγαλώνω σε μια μέρα has one Sunday morning slot this November, and its seats went within a week of going on sale.
