A father sits on an autumn beach holding his three-month-old son, and the world he conjures for the child becomes the whole of Manos Thiraios's «I fokia» (The Seal). One actor, Vlasis Pasioudis, carries all of it — an 85-minute multi-voiced monologue at Theatro Avaton, the small performance-art room on Eupatridon in Gazi, a few minutes' walk from Kerameikos metro. The piece reunites Thiraios and Pasioudis after their «Lexeis ton Allon», and Grigoris Liolios's ambient score lets the staging breathe rather than fill the silence. The room is small, so sightlines stay close and the quietest passages still land. If you want spectacle and a large cast, this is the opposite. But if you want one performer holding a single image for 85 minutes, Pasioudis gives you exactly that. This autumn slot returns the production to Athens after its spring run.
