Περιγραφή στα Αγγλικά
The Michel of the title is Foucault. Thanasis Kritsakis reads Discipline and Punish on a gym floor: in a dystopian competition, four athlete-citizens must keep their output up because survival depends on it. Kritsakis conceived and directs Michel: Ασκήσεις θνητότητας; the text, written with Marilena Katranidou, splices gym-floor talk and interviews with canonical Western texts, sliding between realism, surrealism, humor and dread as five performers train, measure and fall short in front of you.
The production premieres 21 July 2026 at Σύγχρονο Θέατρο (Evmolpidon 45, Gazi, a short walk from Kerameikos metro) as part of SYSTEMA, the Athens Epidaurus Festival strand for new Greek performing arts. Three nights only — and the curtain moves each night: 21:30 Tuesday, 21:00 Wednesday, 22:00 Thursday, so check your date. 90 minutes; tickets 5-20 EUR via aefestival.gr and more.com.
If you expect plot, this is an essay with a pulse. If you have ever counted reps and wondered who is doing the counting, Michel trains for three nights and stops.
