Giorgos Adamantiadis opens his political tragedy "Schedio Promitheus" at Theatro Kallirrois on 20 April 2026 — premiere night. The play is set in Athens, April 1967, one month before the Colonels' coup: a political youth office receives documents exposing officers preparing to overthrow democracy within hours. Anxiety turns to panic, panic to political deadlock.
Adamantiadis writes and performs; three-way direction by Yannis Zafeiris, Irini Katsinoula and Adamantiadis places the stage inside the script's argument. Eighty-five minutes, five actors, ages 14 and up. The experience is a real-time procedural — decisions getting harder as the clock moves.
If you want an evening of escape, the April 1967 clock is the wrong clock. If you want a room where a contemporary Athens playwright opens a new work on its first night, this is the room.
Theatro Kallirrois is at Kallirrois 10, a short walk from Syngrou-Fix metro. Mondays and Tuesdays only, curtain 21:00, through 19 May 2026.
A premiere dated inside the calendar month the play itself inhabits — April 1967 read by April 2026.
