Three young men step onstage as three old women, speaking a Thessalian village dialect unfamiliar even to some Thessalians. Oi Gries pou Mazevoun tin Tsouknida (The Old Women Who Gather Nettle), directed and dramaturged by Konstantinos Dellas, is a work-in-progress built from the secret stories of rural Thessalian women — where folk magic, cooking, and ritual meet as coded female knowledge.

Dellas's staging won the first audience award at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival's GRAPE 2025 and returns to Stathmos Theatro in Metaxourgeio for a new run. Casting men as the grandmothers is the engine: the distance keeps sentiment out and lets the nettle-gathering witches stay strange.
