On Thursday 15 October, «ORACLE» opens on the Main Stage of Onassis Stegi. By Saturday afternoon, midway through its four-night run, the man who built it walks onto the smaller stage in the same building to take the machinery apart. The Onassis Masterclass with Łukasz Twarkowski runs from 16:00 to 18:00 on 17 October 2026, in English, with filmmaker Giorgos Zois moderating. Stegi's season announcement bills it as the first time Twarkowski presents the method behind his theatre in Greece.
Twarkowski, born in 1983, is a Polish director, video artist and maker of multimedia installations. His «ROHTKO», premiered at the Dailes Theatre in Riga in 2022, is a four-hour production about forgery, reproduction and what a painting is worth, and it has since played the Barbican in London and the Odéon in Paris. «Respublika», made with the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, is a six-hour performance drawn from rave culture, presented at the Ruhrtriennale in 2022 and the Holland Festival in 2023. Both passed through Stegi before «ORACLE», his new work about Alan Turing, the code that changed history, the birth of artificial intelligence and the darker side of progress.
The people who book this are the ones who, at a live-cinema show, keep glancing away from the screen to find the camera operator crouched inside the set. Directors and designers come to steal a technique; film people come to see how framing survives without a second take; audiences who sat through hour four of «ROHTKO» come to learn why it held them.
The session takes the Small Stage (Mikri Skini), not the Main Stage where «ORACLE» plays: a smaller room for a working conversation rather than a spectacle, spoken in English, with Zois steering and two hours on the clock.
According to the Stegi listing, the Onassis Masterclass with Łukasz Twarkowski centres on his "live cinema" language: editing and framing in real time, while the performance is happening. It treats people, narratives, politics, technology and set design as dramaturgical tools, and walks through how performers, designers and technicians build his hybrid stage worlds together. Zois brings a filmmaker's questions to a practice that borrows cinema's grammar and refuses its edit suite.
If you have never seen a Twarkowski production and have no curiosity about how theatre gets built, two hours of process talk in English is a long Saturday afternoon. But if «ROHTKO» or «Respublika» left you wondering how a camera, a crew and a cast stay in sync for hours on end, this is the afternoon the director answers.
Onassis Stegi sits at Syngrou Avenue 107, about a ten-minute walk from Syngrou-Fix metro. A regular ticket is 30 EUR; a combo ticket bought together with «ORACLE» is 25 EUR; the reduced and Friends of Stegi price is 24 EUR, the unemployment rate 21 EUR, and tickets for people with disabilities and their companions 10 EUR. The combo is the detail worth acting on: see «ORACLE» on Thursday or Friday, then arrive Saturday already carrying the questions.
«ORACLE» plays four nights; its maker explains the wiring once.
