Περιγραφή στα Αγγλικά
Tassos Konstas is the recognized successor to the Spatharis tradition of Greek shadow puppet theater. On Thursday 9 April 2026 at noon, he brings Karagiozis to the screen at Paraga, the cultural space he founded with puppeteer Alexia Alexiou in a converted judo dojo in Neos Kosmos.
Live music accompanies every performance, played by the Paraga Band. The cut-leather figures Konstas uses are his own work, and the performances mix traditional Karagiozis dialogue with contemporary satire.
If you want polished animation with clean digital edges, this is not that. But if you want your kids to see a living art form, you see the sticks and the hinges and you follow them anyway.
Paraga is at Kallirois 89 in Neos Kosmos, accessible by metro. Tickets €10 and €8 for children three and up; a make-your-own-Karagiozis workshop follows for kids five and up at €10.
Shadow theater survives here because someone still cuts the leather and moves the sticks.
