Animation is made one frame at a time, and that patience is the lesson here: across these workshops at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, children build a short film by moving objects in tiny increments and capturing each step. The clips they shoot are stitched into a single animated film.

That film does not stay in the room. It screens at the SNFCC's Green Weekend later in 2026 and travels to ANIMASYROS, the international animation festival on Syros, in September — so the children leave having shown work at a real festival.

Entry is open, within the center's summer program for younger children. If you want a screening to sit your kids in front of, look elsewhere; but if you want them making something that outlasts the afternoon, that is the design. The SNFCC sits at the coastal end of the park in Kallithea, with no metro stop but a free shuttle from central Athens. Few children's workshops end with a credit at a real festival, not the fridge door.
