A Spanish tourist accepts an invitation into a Greek household and gets the full force of its hospitality — that is the engine of Oikogeneia Tsekme, the comedy Tolis Papadimitriou both wrote and directs.

Around the table sit Sakis, Roza and Stelios — cousins of the notorious 'Takis Tsekme' — alongside Nancy, Kiki and 'Paraskevas from next door.' Papadimitriou turns the household's misunderstandings and outsized personalities on modern family life: its social fixations and everyday excess, played at farce speed.

The production reaches the Dimotiko Kipotheatro Papagou for two nights only, 27 and 28 June, as part of the 32nd Papagou-Cholargou Festival. The venue is an open-air garden theatre served by bus rather than metro, so the evening runs under the trees — bring a light layer for the 21:00 start, when the summer air turns cool after dark. General admission is 25 EUR.

If you want quiet, contemplative theatre, this is not it; but if you want a fast Greek farce in the open air, the Tsekme household is holding a chair.
