What does a walk in the forest sound like, and who lives in the little house with three plates and three beds? Those two questions open Σε 3/4: Βαλς με μια Χρυσομαλλούσα (In 3/4: A Waltz with Goldilocks), a 60-minute music session for families with children aged 3 to 5 at the Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall, on Saturday 28 November 2026 at 11:00.
The idea is built on the number three. Goldilocks meets three bears, finds three bowls, tries three chairs and three beds, and the waltz counts in threes too: one strong beat, two light ones. The Megaron programme uses that overlap to bring small children into contact with 3/4 time, the metre of the waltz, and to explore timbre, dynamics and pitch through songs and interactive music-and-movement activities. The Megaron calls it a musical walk in which children discover musical metre with their bodies before they have a word for it.
The session is conceived, coordinated and led by Maya Myriam Papageorgiou and Angeliki Agalianou. Papageorgiou works as a presenter of music-education and theatre-education programmes with cultural institutions, the Athens Concert Hall among them, and the pair have led the Megaron's sessions for three-to-five-year-olds before. The Goldilocks waltz itself returns: the same title ran at the Megaron on Saturday 29 November 2025.
The crowd sits low to the ground. Parents and grandparents who are ready to get down on the floor, three-year-olds who clap with total conviction whether or not the beat agrees, five-year-olds who already know the story and want to tell it first.
The setting is the Megaron's Educational Activities Hall (Αίθουσα Εκπαιδευτικών), a room for workshops rather than one of the concert auditoriums. The vibe is a guided game, not a performance: children move, sing and answer back. The sound is voices and rhythm, songs and a story told in threes, and the ONE-two-three of the waltz under all of it. At the door, one ticket covers one child and one accompanying adult, so this is a morning you share rather than a drop-off.
If you want your child to sit still and listen to a concert, this hour asks for the opposite: standing up, swaying, stamping on the strong beat. But if you want a four-year-old to leave the Megaron counting one-two-three under their breath, Σε 3/4 is built for exactly that.
The Megaron's own listing marks the session sold out. Tickets were 15 EUR for one child and one guardian, with each additional child at 8 EUR, sold through the Megaron's box office. The building sits on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, a short walk from Megaro Mousikis metro station. Last year's edition ran from 10:00; this year the start moves to 11:00, which leaves a little more of the Saturday morning for getting small children out of the house.
A limited, single-morning session with every place already taken: if the Megaron opens a second date, move fast.
