«Γυναίκα»

Gynaika is a concert by the Athens Municipal Symphony Orchestra at Olympia Municipal Music Theater Maria Callas in central Athens, on 10 March 2026. Conductor Mata Katsoulis leads a program built around the woman as heroine — two works rarely heard in Athens concert halls.

The first half presents Louise Farrenc's Symphony No. 3 in G minor, composed in 1847 by one of the few women active in nineteenth-century symphonic composition. The second half stages Jiri Antonin Benda's melodrama Medea, setting one of mythology's most contested female figures against orchestral accompaniment.
