"Apoichoi tou Romantismou" — Echoes of Romanticism — is a solo piano recital by Michalis Papadopoulos at Odeio Athinon on 24 April 2027, organised around the late-Romantic and post-Romantic Slavic and Eastern European keyboard repertoire: Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Szymanowski, Medtner. The four composers share a vocabulary that pulled Chopin’s lyricism into denser harmonic territory, and a recital that programmes all four together asks the listener to hear, in Papadopoulos’s reading, the bridge from Romanticism into early modernism in one sitting. The Conservatoire’s Ioannis Despotopoulos Amphitheatre sits behind the Presidential Palace, a short walk from Evangelismos metro. A four-composer Slavic and Eastern European programme of this density is a limited proposition on the Athens recital circuit.
