Richard Bean took Carlo Goldoni's 1746 commedia dell'arte farce, moved it to 1960s Brighton, and turned it into one of the modern British stage's biggest comedies. That play, Ένας υπηρέτης, δύο αφεντικά, opens at Ilisia on 3 October 2026, directed and translated by Thanos Tokakis.

The premise survives every update: a starving servant secretly works for two bosses at once and has to keep them apart. Giorgos Chrysostomou leads, returning to comedy, alongside Grigoria Metheniti, Giannis Kapeleris, Argyris Gkaganis, Lydia Stefou and Nikos Iatrou across a 90-minute show built on disguise, physical gags and split-second timing.

If you prefer quiet drama, this farce isn't your night. But if you want belly-laugh chaos done with craft, Bean and Tokakis deliver.
