Περιγραφή στα Αγγλικά
Karagiozopaixtis nyn kai aei is a theater and shadow puppet performance at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, Tavros, Fridays at 20:00 for a limited run through April 2026. Tickets cost fifteen euros. Behind the white screen, the silhouettes are sixty years old — hand-cut figures Thanasis Spyropoulos carried village to village.
Spyropoulos (1931-2023) was Greece's foremost shadow theater artist. In this rare production, Panos Skouroliacos plays him while son Kostas operates the original Karagiozis figures to live guitar and violin — you feel the puppets talking back to their maker's stand-in.
If folk tradition leaves you cold, skip this. But if a master's figures moving in his son's hands sounds right — it is. Pireos 206, near Tavros metro.
