Περιγραφή στα Αγγλικά
The European Jazz Scene has two touchstones for muted-horn-over-electric-bass writing: Nils Petter Molvær in Oslo and Erik Truffaz in Paris. Andreas Polyzogopoulos is the Athens voice working that same axis — Conservatory of Amsterdam, Royal Conservatory of Brussels, a Toots Thielemans award in Belgium, and a five-album discography running from post-bop to electric.
His quartet plays Half Note on 22 April at 21:30. The set blends material from his 2023 trio record Petrichor, reworked for a full rhythm section, with compositions recorded for autumn release — the first new studio work since that album.
Half Note, on Trivonianou 17 in Mets, is a ten-minute uphill walk from Akropoli station. The club runs October through May only and has operated in this room since 1979; reservations are required and unclaimed seats get given away fifteen minutes after start.
If the words 'muted trumpet over electric bass' sound like a warning, this is not your night. But if Molvær and Truffaz already have a place in your listening, Polyzogopoulos plays the Greek chapter.
One set. Pre-release material.
