Περιγραφή στα Αγγλικά
Elli Paspala was born in New York and trained at the Manhattan School of Music under soprano Judith Raskin. She came to Athens in 1982 and spent six years working with Manos Hadjidakis. For Elly Loves Jazz she returns to the American songbook, performing at the Olympia Theatre Maria Callas.
Paspala's voice covers classical, folk, and jazz without settling permanently in any one. This program places her inside a band working through standards and deep cuts from the tradition she absorbed before moving to Greece.
The crowd comes for a singer who treats jazz not as nostalgia but as living material.
If you want laiko or entechno, Paspala has recorded both — but not tonight. If you want a voice trained in New York performing jazz in a hall built for opera, the Olympia provides the acoustics and Paspala provides the phrasing.
On Akadimias Street, accessible by metro. 22 April 2026 at 20:30. Tickets from 10 EUR through more.com.
A New York voice, an Athens stage, and a songbook that belongs to both.
