After dark on 29 July 2026, Stavros Niarchos Park stops being a place you stroll through and becomes a board you have to read. Somewhere along the canal a clue is waiting; the next is folded into a corner of the grounds you have walked past without ever looking. Under the July full moon, the adults' treasure hunt turns the whole park into a puzzle with the lights turned down.

Κυνήγι Θησαυρού για ενήλικες — the treasure hunt for grown-ups — is one strand of the Full Moon Sleepover, the all-night event that keeps the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center open until dawn. Built together with Aperol, it sends teams across the grounds to solve riddles, decode hidden clues, and follow a trail that runs from the canal out along the paths, from 21:00 until 02:00 — one night only, under the full moon. Finish it and there are Aperol-branded prizes to collect; the real reward is covering ground you thought you knew in a way you never have.

Expect small teams, low light, and a lot of doubling back. The people who take this seriously come in groups and treat it as a race; the ones who take it lightly treat it as an excuse to wander the park at midnight with a task in hand. Either works. What the hunt rewards is the willingness to argue over a riddle with three friends and then split up to test both answers.

Around you the rest of the night runs in parallel: a Steven Spielberg film marathon on the open-air screen from 21:15, kayaks on the floodlit canal, a silent disco flickering in the Mediterranean Garden. The treasure hunt is the one activity that makes you move through the park rather than settle into a corner of it — you cross the canal, the gardens, and the long paths between them instead of claiming a patch of lawn.

If you want to lie on the grass and watch a film without moving for three hours, the hunt is the wrong end of the program. But if you would rather earn your view of the park — solving your way from the canal to a corner you have never noticed, under a full moon, with a team — this is the part of the night built for you.

The SNFCC (ΚΠΙΣΝ) is on Syngrou Avenue in Kallithea, reached by tram or the Foundation's 'Sleepless at the SNFCC' shuttle to and from Syntagma. Bring mosquito repellent and shoes for gravel paths; the hunt is open entry, first-come, with no charge to join. Gather near the canal at 21:00.

The park only becomes a puzzle once a year, and only until two in the morning — after that it goes back to being a park.
