Metal Without Mercy festival / 2-3-4 October 2026 / 3days ticket!
The first weekend of October belongs to the old school. Metal Without Mercy runs three consecutive nights — Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October 2026, music from 19:00 to 23:30, four bands a night — and this ticket is the 75 EUR pass that covers all twelve. One special wrinkle first, because it matters practically: the festival changes rooms mid-run.

Hymns of the Divine Liturgy - Hymns from the Paraklesis and Salutations to the Most Holy Theotokos (Virgin Mary Byzantine Music Days Festival
A single low note holds under everything — the ison, the drone that Byzantine chant is built on, one section sustaining a pitch while the melodic line turns above it. On 22 October that sound fills the Greek National Opera's Alternative Stage inside the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC, ΚΠΙΣΝ), on the second of four nights the house has set aside for Byzantine Music. The four evenings form the Days of Byzantine Music, a debut strand of the Alternative Stage's 2026-27 season subtitled 'genera and generations of the chanting art today'.
Hymns of Holy Week and the Resurrection Byzantine Music Days Festival
Holy Week arrives in October at the Alternative Stage. On 23 October 2026 the programme is the hymns of Holy Week and the Resurrection — the chant of Greek Orthodox Easter — sung half a year out of its liturgical season, and that dislocation is the point.
Hymns of the All-Night Vigil Byzantine Music Days Festival
The agrypnia — the all-night vigil — is Orthodox chant built to run from dusk to sunrise, one service flowing into the next with no gap between them. On 24 October the fourth and final night of the Byzantine Music Days folds that arc into a single concert: the hymns of the vigil, drawn from the service that keeps a church awake until morning. The festival is a four-night strand of the Greek National Opera's Alternative Stage, curated by Zacharias Karounis under the subtitle «Γένη και γενιές της ψαλτικής τέχνης σήμερα» — genres and generations of the psaltic art today.

Death Disco Indoor Festival 2026
Death Disco Indoor Festival returns to Gazarte Ground Stage for two nights of post-punk, darkwave, and synth — eight acts across Friday and Saturday, doors at 18:00 each evening. The lineup pulls from four decades of the genre's family tree. And Also The Trees, the Worcestershire band that The Cure's Robert Smith produced in 1983, headline Saturday — fifteen studio albums released since, still active after more than forty years.

The Athens Conservatoire's "Aris Garoufalis" Hall is a Bauhaus-austere room — Pentelic marble exterior, strict geometry by Ioannis Despotopoulos, Gropius's student — and on the evening of 16 April 2027 it opens the 39th Athens International Guitar Festival with two Italian duets tuning. Costas Cotsiolis, the classical guitarist whose own playing pushed Greek guitar onto the international recital circuit, founded the festival in 1978 and has directed every edition since. Opening night pairs Duo Aniello with violinist Gennaro Desiderio, then Duo Giampaolo Bandini with bandoneonist Cesare Chiacchiaretta — two couplings that set the edition's thread of guitar against another voice. You will share the hall with the city's classical-guitar circle: conservatory students who track international recital circuits, older subscribers who remember which Rodrigo recording still undersells the concertos, the small Italian-Greek diaspora who turn out for any Bandini date in Athens.
