Automaton

Low end first: Automaton trade in psychedelic doom and post-black metal, the kind of weight that arrives through the floor before the vocals do. On 6 June the Greek band brings its new album «Labyrinth» to Temple in Gazi, with Omega Monolith opening. Temple is a two-floor room more often given to techno, but its Funktion-One rig carries Automaton's dark, slow-building sound with room to spare; capacity runs near six hundred. Tickets are €10. Expect a long arc rather than quick hits — drone, build, release, repeated until the riffs read less like songs than weather. If you came for a tidy set of singles, this is not that night.
